We've decided not to send out a card this year but to make a donation to the typhoon appeal. Happy Christmas and here's to another busy, interesting year in 2014. This image was shot in a small cafe in Bonifacio, Corsica a few years ago, (on film, Ricoh GR1, great camera) and seemed appropriate. I'd forgotten how long it takes to clean the dust spots from a scan!

Olympic hopefuls
I met Frances Peters and Nicola Groves at Hayling Island Sailing Club last week, hoping that we might get a chance to shoot some on the water images for their new website. We only had one chance as their boat, the 49erFX chosen as one of the women's sailing classes at the Rio games in 2016, was being shipped off to Rio the next day. Their other boat was already on its way to Miami for a regatta in January. Unfortunately it was blowing dogs off chains, so we settled for some portraits and agreed to reconvene in the spring. I think a hair stylist would have had a difficult day!

Olga
Shot today on location for a firm of solicitors: not part of the brief but I knew this frame would work well with a little 'Bailey' processing.

Cubic Transportation Systems
It's going to be interesting to see the finished images once the guys at Black Fox Media have worked their magic. Great working with Ruth Frances, very lovely and totally professional, producing the building blocks from which the final image will be constructed.

Spectating
I've never been that good at standing around watching other people play sport, even when it's your own kids playing, but it was nothing but a pleasure on this particular afternoon.

Royal Southern AVEVA September Regatta
2 days of great racing at the Royal Southern AVEVA September Regatta a couple of weekends ago, and a cracking image of the new J70 racing with a full set of fine looking Dynamic Sails.
Mario
Not one, but two of my images of the fantastic Mario on the latest piece of marketing from Macmillan Cancer Support to drop through the door.

Baker Tilly
Recent portraits for Baker Tilly. As with so many corporate shoots, not much to work with; one empty room, one light.

Event film from Gazprom International Dragon World Championship

Gazprom International Dragon World Championship
Currently shooting stills and video at the Gazprom International Dragon World Championship based at the WPNSA in Weymouth. Cracking conditions on the first couple of days, not so good yesterday. The challenges of producing a good selection of racing images, covering shoreside events and producing 2 films a day for the event are becoming apparent! Helping to achieve this is the new Canon EOS C100 I finally took the plunge and bought a couple of days before the racing started. I'll write more later about setting up the camera so that it becomes useable on location but the image quality is fantastic and it is so much more useable than a DSLR setup when there's a lot going on. Some of the films can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8-IbnXkYAg&feature=share&list=PLx-TWUvqoMVRFIiJjKp5S6CF-l5xTBWtQ and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDVfc39S4s0&feature=share&list=PLx-TWUvqoMVRFIiJjKp5S6CF-l5xTBWtQ.

Queen's birthday flypast
Just a 10 second window of opportunity to photograph the RAF's new Voyager aircraft for Airtanker during the Queen's Birthday Flypast yesterday. Shot from the top of New Zealand House, the only elevated vantage point on the flightpath, which started over the Barbican and ran straight up the Mall.

Team Invictus
Latest image of the C Class Catamaran being developed by Team Invictus for the I4C World Championship being held in Falmouth in September. Developed by a team of engineers from the Airbus facility in Bristol, the 25' long craft has a wing sail the size of an Airbus 320 wing. Retouching by Paul Fisk.

Round the Island Race
I've entered the JP Morgan Round The Island Race many times, this year in my own small boat, but very excited that this shot of 'Collective Spirit', the special 30' yacht built by Mark Covell and his team for The Boat Project, has made it on to the front page of the website.

Macmillan silhouette's
Just spotted the latest silhouette being used on the front page of Macmillan Cancer Support's website. The concept still looks fresh 18 months after we first started creating them and Lloyd looks pretty cool. You can watch the video about Lloyd's story here:

Prebendal School in Chichester have just published their new prospectus. I made a couple of visits to try and capture a flavour of the school, not that recently as you can tell from the brighter weather!

One hungry boy
Thom Hunt, one of the 3 Hungry Boys featured on Channel 4 a few years ago, now lives in an ancient charcoal burner's cottage in Cornwall. Not quite off grid (it does have electricity) but certainly off road, we had to carry the gear for 15 minutes across very muddy fields to reach the location. I was shooting for Macmillan Cancer Support as Thom is a Cancer Voice having suffered from colon cancer at the age of 27. He's an amazing guy and meeting him has certainly been a highlight of the year so far. He's created a unique lifestyle, running courses in wild foods and outdoor adventure which also encourage time to think and experience the great location on the banks of the Fal estuary. He share this with many friends, who came and went continuously while I was there, but also seems to relish the solitude.
